Tofurky And Gravy Drink By Jones Soda???
Posted in food/drink, holiday by thuy | Tags: jones soda, thanksgiving, tofurky
WTF? Grody to the max!! This is the description on the Jones website. Drink at your own risk.
Some people are crazy for turkey around the holidays… others not so much. For those of you with veggie leanings, Jones teamed up with the good folks at Tofurky® to bring you a meatless option.
We created this special soda for all you veg-heads out there. Best served with mashed potatoes and a couple of laughs, we hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Happy We-Stole-Your-Land-and-Killed-Your-People Day! Oops, did I just type that?
Off to SF for gluttonous activities for the next 4 days. xx
Oh, And Thank You For Rainbows. Amen.

The World’s First Recycled Surfboard Is Here
Posted in board/bikes, reduce/reuse/recycle by thuy | Tags: green foam blanks, recycled surfboards
Business partners and surf industry veterans, Joey Santley and Steve Cox introduced two first-of-their-kind revolutionary endeavors, Green Foam Blanks and ReSurf Recycling, at the Action Sports Retailer (ASR) trade show in San Diego, Calif. earlier this year.
With deep roots in the surf industry, both Santley and Cox recognized southern California as an epicenter for surfboard manufacturers with more than 1,000 surfboards being produced per day between Los Angeles and the Mexico border. Additionally, nearly 20% of the foam needed to shape each board is rendered as waste and inevitably ends up in landfills.
This unusable foam, partnered with other somewhat toxic materials required to finish each surfboard, equaled an incalculable amount of waste coming from the surf industry. Green Foam took that waste and created the world’s first recycled surfboard blank.
Totally bitchin’ dude.

Get LOST In A 727 Fuselage At Hotel Costa Verde
Posted in auto/transportation, reduce/reuse/recycle by thuy | Tags: Boeing 727, Hotel Costa Verde
Hotel Costa Verde, a resort near Quepos, Costa Rica, opened its newest suite earlier this year in a refurbished Boeing 727 airline fusilage.
The vintage 1965 aircraft, which was once owned by Columbia’s Avianca Airlines, was transported piece by piece from San Jose airport, and mounted on 50 foot tall pillars in the hotel’s coastal location in Manuel Antonio National Park.
The 727 is not the Hotel Coste Verde’s only example of airplane recycling, however. The hotel’s El Avion restaurant, cafe and bar make use of a refurbished Fairchild C-123 cargo plane. The cargo plane was previously owned by the US government and involved in the controversial Iran-Contra affair in the 1980′s. Escándalo!

Dayna Decker Eco-Couture Candles
Posted in home by thuy | Tags: dayna decker, ecowood wick
My girl Fawn Dang (best name ever!) recently gifted me this candle and I’m infatuated with its scent and the crackling wick.
Unlike most candles, Dayna Decker – Chandel candles emanate the sound of soft crackling firewood because they use clean-burning and eco-friendly wooden wicks. That’s right. These cool candles have an EcoWood Wick set in a gel-like natural resin-based wax infused with botanicals encircled in a hand-blown, glass container. Very cool as far as scented candles go.
Why EcoWood Wick?
- Organic and Healthy
- Burns Clean
- Emits a soothing crackling sound
- Intriguing horizontal “teardrop” shaped flame
- Remains rigid and upright
- Less post soot dispersion with diminutive carbon build up
- Longer Burn hours due to a cooler flame
Thanks Fawnita! xx
Use Your Head
Posted in board/bikes by thuy | Tags: bike helmet, yakkay
Gotta be safe while riding around town and doing your part to help the environment. Unfortunately, I don’t wear my helmut. It’s ugly. I hiss at the bike shop dude for always trying to sell me one when I come in to get my tires pumped. A few weeks back I bumped in to a friend that hit a big ass pothole while riding and ended up in the hospital. No helmut, messed up collarbone, arm and head. I think it’s time to rethink my ” I wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those” excuse.
Yakkay came up with a good idea. It’s a Danish company that created a standard helmut with various covers available, designed to transform your helmet into a hat and become an accessory to your outfit. They look a bit big and awkward on but I guess it’s better than a crack in your head.

Gucci’s Signature Stripe Just Got Cooler. And Greener
Posted in environment, fashion, shopping by thuy | Tags: gucci, Rainforest Action Network, The Gucci Group
I never thought I would see this day but now that it’s here, let’s join arms in an interlocking G formation.
Gucci has joined forces with the Rainforest Action Network and decided to stop using paper from Indonesian rainforests and plantations as well as avoiding the suppliers Asia Pulp and Paper.
“Standing rainforests are not a luxury, they’re a necessity if the world wants to stop climate change,” said Mimma Viglezio, executive VP for global communications. “Our actions are lowering our own carbon footprint, but we hope that they will also raise awareness inside the fashion industry that it’s possible for our industry to make a difference for rainforests and for the climate.”
With this policy, they are ensuring that all paper categories used by the group, from printing paper to shopping bags, do not come from endangered forests.
The Gucci Group also owns Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen so this small change is going to make a HUGE difference.

Fellas, Are You Having Problems Getting IT Up?
Posted in health by thuy | Tags: bpa, erectile dysfunction, impotence
Alright guys, it’s time for ya’ll to start paying attention to toxic chemicals too. This is what HealthDay Reporter had to say about the penis fun times killer:
Exposure to high levels of the controversial plastics chemical bisphenol A (BPA) significantly raised the risk of sexual dysfunction, including impotence and low sex drive, among Chinese factory workers, a new study has found.
The researchers stressed that the workers were exposed to BPA levels about 50 times higher than what most Chinese or Americans would be exposed to in everyday life.
Even so, they said the study adds to a growing body of research that shows that the ubiquitous chemical may be harmful to humans. BPA, used to make polycarbonate plastic (hard, clear plastic) and epoxy resin, is found in electronic and medical equipment, cars, sports safety equipment, and food and drink containers, including plastic bottles and the lining of cans.

This Is Why Wild Animals Should Not Be Domesticated!!
Posted in wild things by thuyYeah, I know. Two graphic animal videos in one day. I can’t help it.
We posted back in February about the pet chimp that attacked Carla Nash after she was called over by the owner to come help her calm him down. He ended up viciously attacking Carla, permanently disfiguring her. The owner ended up repeatedly stabbing the chimp with a butcher knife until the police showed up and killed him.
For the first time, Carla shows the damage that was done to her on Oprah today. Nash lost both her hands in the attack, as well as her nose, an eyelid, and lips.
Here is the interview the crazy chimp lady gave after the attack. I know it’s not her fault that Travis attacked her friend but she should have never had him as a pet in the first place. Now he’s gone and the victims life will never be the same. Not even close. Tragic.

2012 Movie Set Goes Green
Posted in film/tv/print by thuy | Tags: 2012, carbon offsets, prius
For a big budget, Hollywood-style disaster film, 2012 probably wouldn’t come to mind as an “eco film” to most people. But not only does the movie serve as a message (or warning) of the effects of impending climate change, the director, Roland Emmerich, and producers took great strides to be as green as possible when making it.
Emmerich, who drives a hybrid and powers his home with solar panels, said “After making The Day After Tomorrow, I said to myself, ‘From now on my movies should have a green footprint.’”
For the production of 2012, carbon offsets were purchased, biofuel was used for generators, sets were recycled and what couldn’t be recycled was donated to Habitat for Humanity. Said Emmerich’s producer partner Michael Wimer, who also drives an all-electric RAV4. ‘It was important to us. Changes are happening to the planet, and you either take responsibility or you don’t.’

Ladies you must check out my girls hair/makeup blog Lady Art. My favorite section is the Step by Step where they have video tutorials of how to apply makeup. I’m not very good at painting my face but these vids make me want to run out and get the recommended brushes and makeup and go to work on my mug!
Nice job Alana and Azelle! xo

Play Your Cards Right
Posted in reduce/reuse/recycle by thuy
Been having random game nights with the girls as of late and one of our favorite games is Speed! I almost peed my panties when I came across this deck of cards at Ralphs of all places.
The Bicycle Eco-Edition deck is dedicated to the environment. Bicycle affirms “Our Playing Cards are crafted from sustainable forest paper, starch- based laminating glue and vegetable-based printing inks. This pack of cards is recyclable. The 54 card deck is a standard poker size Bicycle deck but with an impressive combination of green colors. The packaging is an eco-friendly brown cardboard box with the recyclable symbol right on it. No cellophane wrap, who needs it?
