B.Y.O.C (Bring Yo’ Own Cup)
Posted in events, food/drink, reduce/reuse/recycle, reusable by jenGreen Tip of the Week: Bring your own cup to your local coffee shop. The amount of unrecyclable waste that piles up from our morning (noon and night) coffee runs is unimaginable.
Although some coffee shops are using using ecotainer biodegradable cups, the perennial morning favorite, Starbucks, is not. The problem with the Starbucks cups is that although the outside is made of paper (10% recycled), the inner lining is made of petroleum based plastic which does not biodegrade.
The solution is to bring your own, mug, thermos, pimp cup (hey, whatever works for you) and say no to the single use unrecyclable one that will only get thrown in the trash and sit in a landfill until the end of time.
