Solar Powered G-Spot Vibrator

sola

The SolaVibe is compact, energy efficient and comes with its very own BRIGHT PINK solar panel! One of the commenters suggested leaving it on a windowsill to charge for a few hours- hahaha- holy shit! What if you forgot to put it away? How would you explain that one? Guess you could say it’s to charge your Hello Kitty travel toothbrush or something.

You’ll help save the environment by cutting out batteries, your lady bit will be safe because it’s phthalate-free and you get three uses in one- clitoral, internal vaginal or anal vibes. Sounds like my kinda party! Table for one please.

And the item below isn’t green. It’s white, like my old school first gen iPod. The OhMiBod plugs into any MP3 player and it vibrates to the music…Hello!! Hold up! MAXWELL! Wait, has Johnny Depp ever recorded anything? Google time!

Earth Song

Posted in celeb, environment, in the wild, music, video/media by thuy | Tags: , ,

Here’s my MJ tribute song. I didn’t even know about it until today.

What have we done to the world
Look what we’ve done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son…
What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine…
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores

Never can say goodbye- so for now I thank him for giving us a gazillion memorable party time songs..he definitely made his mark on this earth and will be missed.

Get Rid Of Old Sets Responsibly

Posted in film/tv/print, reduce/reuse/recycle by thuy | Tags: , ,

television

Television sets that will become obsolete with last weeks switch to all-digital broadcasts can only be disposed at approved locations.

A 17-inch television with a cathode ray tube typically contains about two pounds of lead, a known toxic substance. Larger sets may contain as much as 10 pounds of lead.

To avoid polluting the soil and groundwater, the state Department of Toxic Substances Control has banned disposing of televisions in landfills, and ruled that they should instead be taken to centers approved to accept electronic waste.

The Sanitation Bureau will leave flyers on recycling and trash containers with the locations of the approved centers in Los Angeles. The locations are also listed on the city’s Web site, www.lacity.org.

Here is a list of locations in Los Angeles where television sets can be disposed and their hours of operations:

  • 7660 W. Imperial Highway
    Playa Del Rey
    Saturdays and Sundays
    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • UCLA
550 Charles E. Young Drive West
    Saturdays
    8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 4600 Colorado Blvd.
    Atwater Village
    Saturdays and Sundays
    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 11025 Randall St.
    Sun Valley
    Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays
    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Also, I was just sent this link to Department of Public Works which provides a calendar of e-cycle events throughout Los Angeles. Thanks Craig!

The Cove Movie

Posted in animal rights, charitable causes, environment, film/tv/print, food/drink, in the wild, video/media by thuy | Tags: , , , ,

The Cove, which has won honors at many film festivals, including the Audience Award at January’s Sundance Film Festival, chronicles the efforts of Richard O’Barry and the Save Japan Dolphins Coalition to stop the brutal annual slaughter of thousands of dolphins in Japan. The Cove also won the Audience Award at the Toronto Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival.

“The dolphin slaughter is scheduled to begin again on September 1st,” notes Richard O’Barry, Director of Save Japan Dolphins. “The world-wide exposure of the dolphin slaughter through The Cove movie is going to put a spot-light on this secret environmental disaster. It can’t happen too soon.”

“We believe The Cove will be a game-changer,” stated David Phillips, Director of Earth Island Institute’s International Marine Mammal Project, a members of the Save Japan Dolphins Coalition. “Japan’s flaunting of international agreements and international norms must end — the killing of dolphins and whales is no longer accepted by civilized society.”

Celebrate m.a.m.a. earth and Make A Change For the Better June 11

m.a.m.a. e a r t h is a new non-profit organization that is ready to introduce itself to the world. Proceeds from this charity event will benefit Nourish the Children and Shine On Sierra Leone.

m.a.m.a. e a r t h is the brainchild of Kailani Bayot, a mother of two from O’ahu, HI who now resides in Los Angeles. Kailani has never been short on ideas and she’s pouring all of her creative energy into m.a.m.a. e a r t h.

“We are dedicated to raising awareness and making a change for the better by helping charities raise funds to benefit their causes,” says Kailani. “The concept of m.a.m.a. earth started with bracelets I make using hemp and the natural stone azurite-malachite, which is believed to be a sacred stone that promotes healing and aids in transformation. It has been a natural progression to become a non-profit organization and the bracelets are a wonderful way to raise funds for schools or organizations along with your favorite charity.”

The m.a.m.a. e a r t h red carpet event takes place at Dakota Lounge located at 1026 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica on Thursday June 11th at 8pm. Presale tickets are available at www.dakotalounge.com. Bring a pair of new or used shoes for the m.a.m.a. e a r t h shoe drive, enjoy the show, silent auction and check out some amazing vendors and artists. Proceeds to benefit Nourish the Children and Shine on Sierra Leone.

Watch HOME Documentary Online For Free

HOME is a 2009 documentary by Yann Arthus-Betrand (photographer of “Earth from Above” book.). The film is entirely composed of aerial shots of various places around Earth. It shows the diversity of life on Earth and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the planet.

The movie was released simultaneously on June 5th (World Environmental Day) in cinemas all over the world, on DVD, TV and on YouTube. Released on the same date in 50 countries is a world record for any film release in history. The film is 100% free, and no profits will be made from its release or future showings.

Making this movie was an unusual risk for its financial backer, one of the planet’s biggest retailing conglomerates, France’s PPR SA. PPR, the maker of Gucci handbags and Puma shoes, paid PPR, the maker of Gucci handbags and Puma shoes, paid 10 million euros ($20.55 million) of the 12 million euro production budget to create HOME.

Laurent Claquin, senior vice-president of corporate social and environmental responsibility at PPR, said the company took a chance on the film.

“It’s true we’re putting ourselves at risk in a way,” said “We’re not perfect yet. We’re never going to be perfect. But we have a duty to act.”

In May, PPR Chief Executive Francois-Henri Pinaulttold a press conference: “This film commits us not to consume less, but to consume differently.”

The film is narrated in English by Glenn Close, in Spanish by Salma Hayek – also Pinault’s wife – and in 15 other languages.

SADE.4.LIFE

The queen of slim-fitting one piece backless dresses, pulled back hair and the voice of an angel is back and will be blessing us with a new album! Sony has confirmed that Sade Adu has been in the studio and has already finished a few songs. Sade’s last album, Lovers Rock was released in 2000.

Like millions of other people, I have been mesmerized by Sade and her talent since the mid 80′s. Her voice, her face and her style is so unconventional, yet soothingly hypnotic. I saw her twice during her last tour and was in heaven both times.

Welcome back Sade!

Miranda Kerr Is Doing It For The Koalas

Orlando Bloooms lady, Miranda Kerr takes her clothes off, posing for the Australian edition of Rolling Stone magazine’s upcoming “Green Issue”.

In an interview with the magazine, Miranda admits that she has decided to take her kit off to draw public attention to the extinction of koala bears. “It’s a sad thing,” she tells Rolling Stone. “There are only about 100,000 koalas left in Australia. Something like 80 percent of the koalas’ habitat has been destroyed since Europeans arrived in Australia.”

eco-logical

Eco-LogicalART is a non-profit sister company to Peter Schulberg’s personal recovered element studio, the DejaDesign Gallery. Both entities share his conviction that beautiful objects surround us and only need to be re-envisioned.

With Eco-LogicalART Schulberg takes his theory of creative recovery to ground braking—or rather ground liberating new heights. The gallery’s fine art line features original art painted on recycled billboard vinyl. Tossed into landfills by the ton weekly, this heavy, ink impregnated material is an environmental nightmare. But ECO-LA takes the indestructible nature of the advertising vinyl and turns it into an asset. In fact the art can even hang on an exterior wall.

At 14 by 48 feet it is estimated that over 250,000 people a day will see the free art month long drive-by “exhibit.” To put that in perspective the famed Getty Museum averages about 4000 visitors daily.

The next billboard drop is Saturday June 13th. Go to the site for more info.

Shark Sightings LA

Posted in animal rights, art, in the wild by thuy | Tags: , , , , ,

These posters have been spotted in various parts of LA, ATL and DC. The purpose of them? To raise awareness about the depleting species known as the great white shark. As explained in the White Mike blog:

This blog is a guerrilla movement meant to spark the curiosity and collective humanistic action with regards to saving the dire state of Great White Sharks and their near extinction in our planet.

Sharks, the creatures we fear the most, are struggling for survival in our oceans. They are in desperate need of global conservation and these words, however miniscule they may be, serve the only purpose of revealing the inhumane slaughter of sharks and the Organizations out there to help stop the cruel abuse of Whiteys.

The great white shark was added to the endangered list because its population has dropped due to the unregulated trade and excessive hunting. Globally, there has been a reported decline of between 60-95% in great white shark numbers in the last 50 years.

Shepard Fairey made it work for Obama so why not White Mike for the great white?

I had my first Whitey sighting last night on my way to HWood, on the corner of Hollywood and Orange.

Obsolete Art

Wow. Mad props to irI5 for her creative reuse of old cassette tapes and film reels. It’s one thing to keep stuff out of the landfills that will take forever to biodegrade, but to keep it out and make dope art out of it is on a whole other level. I want them all! Click the link above to see the rest of the pieces or follow this link to purchase.

Here’s what Iri5 has to say about her work:

“I am an artist who specializes in using non traditional media… old books, cassettes, playing cards, magazines, credit cards… whatever I can find. It feels great to work with strange, older materials. Things that have a mind of their own. Most everything I use has been thrown away or donated at some point. Past its prime, like some of the finest things in the world.”

Meat Was Murder For Moz At Coachella

Posted in animal cruelty, boys we heart, celeb, events, food/drink, music by thuy | Tags: , , , , , ,

The video clip above is of Morrissey walking off the stage during his set at Coachella because the smell of cooking meat offended him.

Morrissey gave his quote of the year at Coachella just before he walked off the stage during his song “Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others”: “I can smell burning flesh and I hope to God it’s human,” he said, smelling the barbeque sold by festival vendors.

To his credit, Moz did return to the stage and continue his set, giving the explanation that “the smell of burning animals is making me sick. I just couldn’t bear it.”

Morrissey usually has a strict ban on meat products at his gigs, but at festivals, anything goes.

Homie is SERIOUS about his hatred for meat. I don’t blame him. The smell of seafood makes me want to puke through my nostrils.

In other news, he was set to play the next night in my old stomping grounds of San Francisco. He cancelled his show only to be seen later chilling at the DNA Lounge. Oh that Mozzers, always so dramatic. We wouldn’t have it any other way. But I would have been PISSED as hell if I was supposed to be attending that show and he cancelled!

Earth Day Event: Fuel The Movie At The Fine Arts Center

Posted in auto/transportation, environment, events, film/tv/print, health, sustainability by thuy | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

In celebration of Earth Day, Fuel will be playing at the Fine Art Center in Beverly Hills. A must see documentary!

Description: Josh Tickell will be at the Fine Arts Theater of Beverly Hills showing FUEL and signing books. Josh will be participating in an open discussion with Rebecca Harell, producer of FUEL, and 10 year old UN Jr. Goodwill Ambassador Nikkos Hansen.

Director Josh Tickell takes us along for his 11 year journey around the world to find solutions to America’s addiction to oil. A shrinking economy, a failing auto industry, rampant unemployment, an out-of-control national debt, and an insatiable demand for energy weigh heavily on all of us. Fuel shows us the way out of the mess we’re in by explaining how to replace every drop of oil we now use, while creating green jobs and keeping our money here at home. The film never dwells on the negative, but instead shows us the easy solutions already within our reach.

When: Wednesday, April 22nd (Earth Day.) Book signing 6 P.M. Movie 7:30 P.M.

Where: Fine Arts Center. 8556 Wilshire Ave. Beverly Hills, CA 90221

Admission: $8. Buy your tickets online here.

Thanks Jenny!

Kanye X Guru

Posted in celeb, food/drink, music, organic by thuy | Tags: , , ,

Guru energy drinks are organic, low in calories and 100% natural.

I would have never guessed it but apparently Kanye is going to be creating his very own flavor for the brand.

From Kanye’s press release: “I express myself through music, fashion, art, and design, and that’s why I am excited to collaborate with Guru; because the brand values what I value, and I can put what inspires me into this new product.”

ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS, IF I DRINK THIS, WILL IT MAKE ME WANT TO EXPRESS MYSELF IN ALL CAPS LIKE KANYE?

Another Amazing Shoot With Coco Eco Magazine

Posted in fashion, film/tv/print by thuy | Tags: , , , ,

While some of you were getting drunk off mimosas and filling your faces with Peeps on Easter, I was kicking up dust in the desert while shooting another stunning spread for Coco Eco magazine.

We used dresses from Leila Hafzi and fair-trade jewelry from Ten Thousand Villages and The Andean Collection. The bright, bold colors used against the backdrop were gorgeous and I can’t wait for the May/June issue to come out.

Thanks to our amazing team for everyone’s hard work and positive energy throughout the day. And many thanks to Anna Griffin for allowing us all to create our vision through hers.

Of course I’ll be letting you know when the issue drops, but for now, here’s a peek. Check out the last issue to see our previous shoot with Josie Maran.

Shot out to the random ice cream truck for plowing through the dry lake bed and wetting our taste buds with frozen treats.

Posted in Peeps We Rep, blog love, film/tv/print, los angeles by thuy | Tags: , , ,

Hollatchagirls!

We’re excited to be featured in this months 944 magazine, alongside fellow bloggers, Tracy Hepler and Lauren Johanson, from www.yourdailythread.com (another green, grown & sexy blog.)

Conscious-celeb, Alicia Silverstone (watch her behind the scenes vid) graces the cover and the issue showcases eco-designers, natural products and “green” spaces.

Follow the link below to enter in a free 30 day giveaway they’re having in honor of Earth Day. We spotted reusable totes and drink bottles as swag. Um HELLO- we said FREE! Jump in here to enter. Your unemployment check will thank you.

Mad love to Rickey Kim for putting us up. Be sure to read the ‘Editor’s Letter’ in the front of the mag. RK drops it exactly how we like it. “Green as can be.”

On news stands now.. go get yours. Yes, we know. We’re telling you to support paper. Just do it. We’ll use one square of toilet paper and one square only, every time we use the loo to offset the green guilt.

Ok, we’re lying, that’s nasty. What was Sheryl Crow thinking when she said that? Just get yourself a copy. Or two.. we won’t tell.

What’s that? You don’t want to go to sleep at night knowing you’ve contributed to the destruction of some beloved trees? Click here for the digital version. Pages 91-92.

We Give Bruno Two Snaps In The B Formation

Posted in film/tv/print by thuy | Tags: , , , ,

And that’s just going off the trailer. This is going to be fucking highlarious. We love us some Bruno.

You wanna watch the trailer too? Well just squint your eyes really tight and put your birthdate in those teeny tiny boxes somehow. It takes a second but eventually you’ll get it.

Oh and DUH- it’s NSFW, so be careful, it’s not a good time to lose your job if you still have one.

If you’re already a VIP member of the exclusive pink slip club… afternoon job search meet-up Martinis at my pad at 1 p.m. today. And can someone please remember to bring the olives this time?

What A Cute Buttney

Posted in art, reduce/reuse/recycle by thuy | Tags: , , ,

New England artist Tom Deininger created this rabbit out of the cigarette butts that he picked up from beach parking lots. This is an example of how Recycled Art can go beyond the decoratively clever to slyly subversive, forcing the viewer to reconsider not only materials but actions; art that makes a statement.

Thanks Shahram.

We’re Off To Land Of Windmills

Posted in Logistics, events, everybody's doing it, music, sexy ting tings by thuy | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

We’re headed out to the desert for a “Jen & Thuy’s Excellent Adventure” weekend. We’ll be missing out on the LA LIVE event for Earth Hour but we’ll definitely be doing our part from Palm Springs. Let’s just say we stocked up on a (reusable) bag of candles and lot’s of (local) wine.

Turn off your lights tonight from 8:30-9:30. C’mon, everybody’s doing it. Ok, well only like a billion people throughout 2,400 cities in 82 countries…

We’ll leave you with these musical gems ’til our return.

Straight up baby making music. Teddy Pendergrass “Turn out the lights.. light a candle..” The slideshow to this is kinda funny.

Bob Marley & Lauren Hill “Turn Your Lights Down Low”

Jay-Z & Mary J. Blige “Turn Off The Lights”

Santogold Santigold “Lights Out”

Britney Spears “Kill The Lights.” No video for this yet but it shows lots of clips of her before she got crazy in the brains.

Morrisey. “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” and it’s beaming out of my chocha and it will never die for you Moz!!
