Make It Right

Tonight we hit up yet another green event. This time it was the “younger” version of Opportunity Green’s networking jump-off, aka Room 367. It took place at A+D Museum on Wilshire Blvd, and needless to say we weren’t disappointed.

The cocktails were flowing courtesy of New Belgium’s “Fat Tire” Beers, and addictive mojitas using Witch’s Rock rum shaken by a crew from Border Grill. Price of admission afforded us the opportunity to check out the After the Flood exhibit curated by Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation currently on display at A+D. We had a great time and bumped into our girl Sarah from Pink Cloud Events… All in all, a great evening for a great cause.

It’s A Family Affair

If you’re going to be around this weekend and want to bask poolside in the sun, be sure to check out at least one, if not both days of Family Affairs’ one year celebration, on the rooftop of the Downtown Standard hotel. I checked out their two previous events, one at the Smart House in Santa Monica and the most recent in a beautiful residence in Bel Air, where I acquired my first Sigg bottle in a (reusable) gift bag. Both parties provided great music, a cool artsy vibe, beautiful people, open bar, food, and of course, it was all for a good cause.

This event will be benefiting the Greenworld Campaign and Ocean Revolution. There will be guest speakers, a live painting by the artist Carlos Vera, a fashion show by Kama & Kucoon, and so much more. Several dj’s will be spinning over the course of both days but headlining will be my dear friend, Marques Wyatt from Deep on Saturday and King Brit on Sunday. Click here to get all the details.

Unfortunately, I won’t be there this time, but please have a nice, cold, stiff, organic one for me… or two… or three…

Palm Trees, Bumpin’ Music & Good Times.

This past weekend my girl Jen hired me to help with the New Era gifting suite in Palm Desert, CA. Hmm.. gifting hats to artists, sitting poolside with friends, and drinking in the desert heat while listening to dj’s spin? It was a no-brainer and another ‘best time ever” to add to the books. The big bonus was being able to rent any car of my choice. Apparently the Prius is a hot commodity because I had to call at least 8 different rental services before tracking one down.

We stayed at the Mod Resort, which was rented out by FADER/Boosted for their daytime pool parties. I got to take a peek at Boosted’s eco-friendly, leather free line, consisting of dope accessory bags and colorful headphones. Holla for the hook up on my new fanny packs from the Mad Steez & Claw Money collabos.

I wasn’t planning on making it to the actual festival but Raymond Roker from URB magazine hooked us up with last minute tickets- THANKS RAY! Not only did we carpool to the festival, but we lessened our carbon footprint (not by choice) thanks to our cabbie, who dropped us off at the wrong entrance, forcing us to walk for at least 2 miles to get to the fairgrounds. I would’ve loved to have seen the Global Inheritance set up, but unfortunately I missed it because they had already shut down for the night. Catching the end of Portishead and half of Princes’ set was AMAZING! We about lost it when Sheila E. came on and performed every girls favorite 80′s song, “The Glamorous Life.” Already looking forward to next year.

Our gurl, and former model turned actress, Natalie Golonka had the innovative, not to mention eco-friendly idea of reworking vintage fabrics into one-of-a-kind bikinis. Her line is called Jungle Gurl. Take your pick from her collection of 70′s-inspired retro prints and customize your own suit. (Sexy bikini-ready bodies shown above are not included). Streets Is Watchin….

As much as we love a good pair of Stella Mcartney (vegan-friendly) pumps or a great vintage find… we’re definitely heavily influenced by streetwear culture. We are happy to report that some of our favorite streetwear brands are getting the “green” bug.

Nothing says summertime like a splashy blue and neon pink packable tote by the iconic skate store Supreme. This tote is my new gym bag/beach bag/just looks damn cute for the summer bag… Also over at The Hundreds, we’re seeing the “green” message being spread with their esoteric take on the whole green movement, evidenced by their latest tee.

Last but not least the fine folks over at Boost have collaborated with iconic Graffiti legends Madsteez and Claw Money to create a series of low toxicity “vegan approved” artificial leather mobile device carrying cases. The collection includes fanny packs, laptop cases and generally any type of carrying case for all of your technical devices (ipod, blackberry etc). Get out there and support your local businesses in their efforts to GO GREEN!!
