Leila Hafzi
Posted in fair trade, fashion by thuy | Tags: AZO free dyes, herbal ayurvedic dyes, leila hafziLeila Hafzi presented her first collection in Stavenger, Norway, in 1997. With this, she introduced the idea of organic- and ethical trade to the high end fashion industry. During the past ten years, the designer has built a network which represents the very best Nepal has to offer in tailoring and fabrics. Since then, her goal has remained unchanged: to introduce and represent eco-and ethical trade in the fashion industry on a global basis, and in the future to develop an entirely environmental friendly production style.
I’ve used Leila’s dresses in several shoots and they’re stunning. The vibrant bright colors are created with AZO free dyes and the paler colors with herbal Ayurvedic dyes. Each piece is handmade and utilizes fair trade practices.
Definitely a dress to wear down the green carpet.

Hovey Lee Jewelry
Posted in fair trade, fashion, los angeles by thuy | Tags: eco-friendly jewelry, eco-friendly materials, fair trade, hovey lee, jewelryIn 2005 Hovey Lee launched her first jewelry line and captured the attention of the fashion and art communities. Since then her jewelry has been selected by fine art exhibits and featured in jewelry shows and boutiques around the nation and overseas.
Hovey Lee implements the principles of socially and economically responsible business by working with Fair Trade vendors and eco-friendly material producers.
I just used Hovey Lee in the last Coco Eco Magazine shoot and I was loving the line. Especially the gold bracelet above- very Christian Lacroix- without the expensive price tag.

Summer Breeze Shoot For Coco Eco Magazine
Posted in fair trade, fashion, film/tv/print, los angeles by thuy | Tags: coco eco, coco eco magazine, cocoecomag.com, desert shootThe newest issue of Cocoecomag.com is out now. We shot this story in the desert using dresses from Leila Hafzi and jewelry by Andean Collection and Ten Thousand Villages.
The stunningly beautiful, flowing dresses were perfect for the desert wind. And since May 9th was World Fair Trade Day, we used jewelry that came from companies that practice fair trade.
Thanks again to the amazing team I worked with.
